Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell, an American journalist and commentator, who works as a commentator for NBC News in Washington D.C. she is a TV anchor. She earned an undergraduate degree in English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania after growing as a child in New York City. Mitchell began working as a TV and radio reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. She was then a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. Two years later she became general reporter at NBC News in Washington. She began covering the White House in 1981 and was named chief correspondent for the congressional office by 1988. Mitchell was appointed the chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell appeared as both a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. She served on an advisory panel during the debates of 1988 between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for The John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004 the Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her contribution in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell's very first White House coverage was for NBC News, between 1981-1988. This period included both Ronald Reagan terms in office. The reporting she did included plenty of important stories like the Iran-contra scandal, the tax and budget reforms and also the arms control. Mitchell traveled extensively along with the president Reagan for summits with Mikhail Gorbachev.
