Young's acting career started in theatre. Her Broadway debut in 1997 with Mary, the first cast of The Life. She also performed Off-Broadway, in Stephen Sondheim's Merryly We Rolled Along (1994) along with as Randy Newman's Faust (from 1995 to 1996). 3][10] In 1995 she made her television debut as a regular on"The Other World," an NBC daytime soap show Another World as Dr. Courtney Evans. The actress was on Law & Order as a guest actor in two roles during 1997 and 1998. Her debut came in 1999 when she appeared in Black and White, a crime drama. Then she appeared in a number of independent films. From the mid-2000s onwards, she began guest-starring characters on several comedies and television dramas including The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, ER, Frasier, The West Wing, NCIS, Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Young is a regular on more than 30 television shows from 2000 and 2011. Young was one of the main actors on Peacemakers The Peacemakers, a USA Network television series that ran from 2003 to 2004. After nine episodes of the show, it ended after a single season. Her character was featured on the Lifetime show For the People, a show that focuses on the law. Atty. Agnes Hunt in 2002, on NBC the period drama American Dreams as Diane Shaw in 2003. Later, she appeared on NBC's Scrubs as Dr. Grace Miller in 2004 in the role of The Assistant State Attorney Monica West on CBS's CSI: Miami (2005-06), and in the ABC Primetime soap series Dirty Sexy Money (2008-2009) as Ellen Darling, the eldest daughter-in-law of the Darling family. In addition, she had a frequent appearance on Criminal Minds as Beth Clemmons between 2011 and 2013.
