
Salma Hayek Pinault (born Salma Valgarma Hayek Jimmyenezon September 2, 1966)[3][4][5[3][4][5), is an American and Mexican actress. Her career began in Mexico with leading roles in the Telenovela Teresa (1989-1991) as well as the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995) and for which she earned an Ariel Award nomination. Through appearances in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999) and Dogma (1999), she quickly made herself a household name in Hollywood. Hayek's performance as Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002) in which she also directed, made Hayek the first Mexican actress to be awarded the Academy Award [6]. This also earned her the Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors Guild Award and British Academy Film Award nominations. In subsequent years, Hayek focused more on filmmaking while also appearing in action-oriented films like Once Upon a Time in Mexico
